Man mistakes Russel’s Viper as harmless snake, dies of its bite

Mangaluru, September 14, 2024: A man from Bajpe who caught hold of a Russel’s Viper thinking it was a harmless snake, has died after the snake bit him.

The deceased is Ramachandra Poojary (50). On September 12, the snake, locally known as Kannadi Havu was spotted in Bajpe area. Ramachandra thought it was a harmless snake and held it in his hand when it bit him.

Ramachandra did not take it seriously and returned home. However his health deteriorated in the evening and he was rushed to the hospital where he died on Friday.
