Mangalore : Beary Language Day celebrated

Mangalore, Oct 4, 2013 :  Beary Language Day  was celebrated at Town Hall in Mangalore on October 3, Thursday under the aegis of the Kendra Beary Sahitya Parishad. BA Mohideen, former minister inaugurated the programme.

In his address, he exhorted the Beary community  to lay more emphasis on education of girls. Expressing happiness over the fact that more and more girls of the community are opting for higher education, he said this will go a long way in the development of the community.

A talk on the significance and survival of Beary language was delivered on the occasion. Chandrakala Nandavar, senior writer and Umarabba, Registrar of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, were present as chief guests. MB Abdul Rehman, Honorary President of the Parishad, presided over the function.

A Beary limerick session (Chutuku Goshti) was held under the presidentship of BA Mohammad Ali. A variety of programmes including Ajabro Palaka by UK Khalid  Ujire,  a Beary quiz and  drama  were held. There was even a ‘Paat-Qawwali’ programme.

Hameed Kandak, Vice President of the Parishad, Hussain Katipalla, General Secretary and others were present.
