Mangalore, Jan 11, 2013: “Saathiya Janapada Habba-2013, a cultural contest for differently abled kids, was organised at the St Sebastian Platinum Jubilee Hall, Bendur on January 11, Friday under the aegis of Saanidhya Residential School and Team Saathiya. Fr Antony Serrao, Parish Priest of St Sebastian’s Church Bendur inaugurated the event.
Speaking on the occasion, he said not all human beings were born normal and those who were born with disabilities are to be treated with love and also assisted to lead a good life. Saanidhya, he said was doing a wonderful job of taking care of the special kids by identifying their talents and helping them succeed in life.
Retired Professor Gopinath who inaugurated the competitions said though he has been on a wheelchair since 18 years, that has not deterred him from leading a near normal life and doing his duties. He also said it is only the parents of the differently abled children who can feel the pain in bringing up the special kids. It needs real courage, he added. He also appreciated Team Saathiya for their help in bringing out the talent in the differently abled children.
Maxwell Lobo and Floric Lobo, Founders of Saathiya, Vasanth Kumar Shetty, Administrative Officer of Saanidhya, Mahabala Marla, President of Ganesha Seva Samithi, Sachitha Nandagopal and others were present.
