Mangalore, Feb 19, 2013: The services of the police department do not get as much recognition as the army though the total number of policemen who lose their lives while on duty is more when compared to the defense personnel, said Pratap Reddy, IGP, Western Range.
He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop on national security held at the office of the Mangalore Police Commissioner on February 19, Tuesday. The workshop was organized by the Institute of Contemporary Studies, Bangalore.
Continuing, the IGP said the police should have knowledge of various national as well as international issues as they have a bearing at the local level.
Prof. Bidanda Chengappa from Christ University, who gave a talk said Karnataka faced a larger threat from the ISI whose agents, he said make their way into the country through the Bangla borders.He said the ISI was targeting Bangalore as it is the IT capital and also known for its various establishments in the field of defence science, public sector and bio-technology.
