Mangaluru: 13th Annual Convocation of Nitte Deemed to be University held

Mangaluru, Nov 04, 2023: ’Being a life-long learner means one will learn the inside knowledge from people who have more confidence & experience- that will make him/her more confident & valuable as a professional. Being a lifelong learner is the key to allowing one to be successful in all facets of life,’ opined Prof. Omid Ansary, Executive Director for International Affairs, Pennsylvania State University, USA, while delivering the Convocation Address during 13th Annual Convocation at Nitte- Deemed to be University at Mangaluru. Further he added that graduates should learn to use their skills for the betterment of the society. On this occasion Justice N. Santosh Hegde, former Judge of Supreme Court & former Lokayukta of Karnataka and Shashi Kiran Shetty, a well-known entrepreneur, were conferred with ’Doctor of Science’ (Honoris Causa) for their significant contributions to the society and humankind.

N. Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor, Nitte Deemed to be University presided over the Convocation ceremony. He emphasized on the future schemes which have already been implemented for the spectacular growth of Nitte university. He added that nearly 1000 crores would be spent soon to create world class infrastructure facilities in all the three campuses – Nitte, Mangaluru and Bengauru. He has made a request to the outgoing graduates to remember the good things learnt in the institution and to become ambassadors of the University.

A total of 1,256 students including 25 Doctoral, 397 Post Graduates and 3 Fellowship students received Degree Certificates.

18 Endowment Gold Medals, 13 Nitte (Deemed to be University) Gold Medals and 65 Merit Certificates were awarded to top scorers in Medicine, Dental Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Allied Health Sciences, Humanities, Biological Sciences and Architecture disciplines.

Dr. M.S. Moodithaya, Vice Chancellor, Nitte Deemed to be University welcomed the gathering. In his welcome address he said that it’s a proud moment for Nitte Deemed to be University as it was ranked 65th among Indian Universities by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in the year 2023 and has been accredited with A+ Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India (NAAC).
