Mangaluru: A brain dead woman’s organs donated at Wenlock hospital

Mangaluru, January 10, 2025: In a first in the history of the 176 year old Government Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru, the organ donation process of a brain dead woman from Shivamogga was held in the hospital on Friday.

Shivamogga Ragigudde resident Rekha (41) who fell ill at home was admitted to Wenlock on January 6 after initial treatment at a hospital in Shivamogga Hospital. Meanwhile, doctors treating her in Wenlock confirmed that she was brain dead and enlightened her family members regarding organ donation. Upon their consent, the two eyes of the woman were transported to KMC Hospital in Mangaluru while the liver was transported to a Mysuru hospital in zero traffic.
