Mangaluru: Accused in house theft case arrested; gold valued at ₹2.56 lakhs seized

Mangaluru, November 8, 2024: In connection with a house burglary case, Mulki police have apprehended the suspect and seized gold ornaments valued at ₹2.56 lakh.

The arrested individual is Arun (20), son of Durgesh alias Durgappa, residing near Lingappayya Kaadu Mallikarjuna Math, Door No. 19-111A, Karnadu village, Mulki taluk. His permanent address is Mannur, Devara Hipparagi, Sindagi Taluk, Bijapur district.

On November 6, the suspects allegedly broke into the house of Mallamma in Lingappayya Kaadu Bijapur Colony, Karnadu village, by forcing open the back door, stealing 64.200 grams of gold jewelry. Following a complaint from Mallamma on November 7, the Mulki police registered a case.

Inspector Vidhyadhar D. Baikarikar and his team apprehended Arun on November 8 and recovered the stolen gold. The seized items include a gold chain (29 grams), a gold necklace (11 grams), a small black bead chain (11 grams), a pair of earrings (3 grams), a pair of small studs (2 grams), a pair of small hoops (1.5 grams), a small ring (5 grams), a pendant (0.6 grams), six small gold beads (0.5 grams), and a pair of small ear rings (0.6 grams), totaling 64.200 grams.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Mangalore City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal IPS, with DCP Law and Order Siddharth Goel IPS and DCP Crime and Traffic Dinesh Kumar directing. It was led by ACP Srikant of Mangalore North Division, with PSI Anita H.B., ASI Harishekhar, Head Constables Shashidhar and Chandrashekhar, Joyce Suchita D’Souza, Constable Sunil, and MPC Chitra.
