Mangaluru: Car catches fire near Kadri; Second incident in five days

Mangaluru, November 16, 2024: A car caught fire near Kadri on the evening of Friday, November 15.

The incident occurred after a man purchased a Maruti Ritz from a second-hand vehicle showroom in Talapady and parked it near the Kadri police station. Upon starting the car to resume his journey, flames erupted from the front section. The occupants promptly exited the vehicle, which was quickly engulfed in flames. Fire personnel from Kadri arrived at the scene and successfully extinguished the fire.

This is the second such incident within five days. Last Sunday, a Maruti 800 caught fire at a petrol pump in Ladyhill, with the occupants narrowly escaping harm. Earlier, in September 2023, a BMW caught fire while in motion near NITK, Suratkal, on NH 66. Another BMW also caught fire in a separate incident at Adyar.
