Mangaluru, Aug 19, 2024: The protest organized by the Congress in the city on Monday to condemn the Governor’s action of permitting prosecution against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the MUDA case, has turned violent.

A private bus was stoned during the protest near Lalbagh junction. Soon after the protest, some of the party workers reportedly pelted stones at a private bus and its front glass was shattered. The protestors also burnt tyres and even entered into a fracas with the police.

The protestors burnt tyres in front of the MCC office. The violence took place right in the presence of District Congress President Harish Kumar, MLC Ivan D’Souza, party leaders Ramanatha Rai, Prakash Rathod and others.

The situation in the area is tense. DCPs Siddartha Goyal, Dinesh Kumar are at the spot.
