Mangaluru: Eminent poet Devara Dasimayya Birth Anniversary Celebrated

Mangaluru Apr 12, 2016: District Administration and Kannada and Culture  Department, Dakshina Kannada in association with Karnataka State Weavers Community Okkuta celebrated the birth anniversary of eminent Vachanakaara  Jedara Dasimayya at Town Hall on  Tuesday April 12.

 

 

Speaking on the occasion MLC Ivan D’Souza said that  government has taken up the initiative to celebrate birth anniversary of eminent Vachana writers and poets in order to recognize their true value and contribution towards Kannada Naadu. Vachanas have  been an  inspiration to the people to come out of the  dilemmas they face in their life.

Deputy  Commissioner AB Ibrahim said that  present generation need to be  aware of the Vachanas and their importance.

 There was poor response from the public for this celebration, and  hardly a  few people were present.

District Interim Congress President Ibrahim Kodijaal, Superintendent of Police Dr SP Sharanappa, President of Karnataka Byari Sahitya Academy B.A Hanif Mohammed and others were present.
