Mangaluru, October 6, 2024: The Rangasangati Cultural Foundation organized a ‘Multi-Language Poetry Reading and Tulu Poetry Session’ on October 4, 2024, at the Kudroli Santoshi Kala Mantap, in memory of Amruta Someshwar as part of the Dasara celebrations. On this day, a collection of poems featured in the session was released.
Dr. Meenakshi Ramachandra presided over the multi-language poetry reading, which included contributions from poets such as Chetan Someshwar, Dr. Vishwanath Badikaan, Ganesh Prasad Pandelu, Raghu Bhatt, Karunakara Balkur, Raymond Dikunna Takode, Badruddin Kouluru, Arun Shet, Hasan Kunjattabail, Ravindra Nayak Sannakibettu, and Aravind Shyanabhag Baleri, who all recited their poems.
In the Tulu poetry session, presided over by Dr. Vasant Kumar Perla, poets like Vijayalakshmi Shetty from Salethur, Sudha Nagesh discussing the Tulu language, Akshaya Arv. Shetty speaking on maternal affection, Akshataraj Perla on the qualities of Tulu soil, and Vishwanath Kulal describing the money that goes everywhere, shared their works. Vijayalakshmi Kattilu spoke about a hidden tear in the heart, while poet Raghu Idthidu recited lines from his Tulu poem, leading the audience gathered at the Kudroli Gokarnanath Temple to deep reflection. The featured poem ‘Kakke’ conveyed the wish, “I want to become like a crow.”
Present at the event were Padmaraj R., the treasurer of the Kudroli Temple, Shakuntala Shetty, president of the Coastal Women Writers and Readers Association, Gopalakrishna Shetty, president of the Rangasangati Cultural Foundation, and member Shashiraj Kavoora. All participating poets were honored with a memento, book, and certificate. Karunakara Balkur and Mime Ram Das hosted the program.
