Mangaluru: Gold chains of idols stolen from Jain Mandir

Mangaluru, October 26, 2024: Golden chains which adorned the idols in the Shwethambara Murthi Poojak Jain Mandir behind the Ladygoschen Hospital in the city, have been reported stolen.

The family of the priest of the shrine were asleep when the theft reportedly took place during the wee hours. When they heard the sound of breaking the donation box, the priest and his son rushed out when the thief ran away leaving behind the donation box.

Later upon checking, the doors of the Mandir were found open and five gold chains weighing 55 grams and valued at Rs 2.5 lakhs were missing.
A complaint has been lodged in Mangaluru North Police Station.
