Mangaluru: Kerala man arrested with Rs 73 lakh worth hydroweed ganja

Mangaluru, January 10, 2025: The Mangaluru CCB on Friday arrested a man for supplying narcotics from Goa to Mangaluru and Kerala. This is part of Mangaluru CCB’s initiative to make "Mangaluru drugs free." The police confiscated hydro ganja valued at Rs 73 lakh and other items from his possession.

Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal said the accused, Shamee P K (42) hails from Kozhikode in Kerala. Acting on a tip-off that hydro ganja was being transported from Kerala to Mangaluru city, the CCB sleuths intercepted a car near Bappanadu on the National Highway.

Police recovered 738 grams of hydro ganja worth Rs 73 lakh, a car used for transportation, and a mobile phone from the accused. The total value of the confiscated properties is estimated to be approximately Rs 80,10,000.

A case has been registered at the Mulki police station. Preliminary investigations revealed that the hydro ganja was brought from abroad.

The operation to detect the sale or transportation of the narcotic hydro weed was conducted under the supervision of Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal, and the direction of Deputy Commissioners of Police Siddharth Goyal,K Ravishankar.

The operation was led by CCB unit ACP Manoj Kumar Naik, along with Police Inspectors Shyam Sundar HM, PSI Sharanappa Bhandari, and CCB personnel.
