Mangaluru: Missing youth found dead in forest; friend arrested for killing

Kadaba, December 03, 2024: A youth who was missing since five days was found dead with his decomposed body found in the Naradka forest area about one and a half kms away from the Subrahmanya Road railway station at Nettana on Monday. It has been learnt that his friend himself killed him and tried to burn the body.

 

The deceased is Sandeep Gowda (29), son of late Shantappa Gowda of Bilinele in Kadaba. Police investigations revealed that his friend Prateek of Nettana had killed him with a rod and tried to burn the body.

Prateek who was undertaking Shamiyana works at Mardala had not returned home from work on November 27. On gathering information that he had gone with Prateek, his mother searched for him and later lodged a complaint. On Sunday police took Prateek and another man into custody when the murder came to light. The reason behind the murder is yet to be known.

On Monday, locals who were anguished staged a protest and obstructed police vehicle asking cops to hand over the accused to them. They also demanded that the other accused in the case be arrested.
