Mangaluru : Retired BSNL officer fatally knocked down by car driven by PWD engineer

Mangaluru, Mar 29, 2021:     A retired BSNL officer was fatally knocked down by a speeding car near Circuit House on March 28, Sunday night.

 

The deceased is A Ananda (62), a resident of Ladyhill. Anand was working for a private company at Udupi following his retirement from BSNL. On Sunday  he had attended a company meeting and on his return had alighted from a bus and was walking alongside the Circuit House Road when the speeding car knocked him down and fled the scene.

It has been learnt that a man named Shanmugam, an AEE in a the PWD was driving the car. Locals immediately chased the car and handed over its driver to the police. It is learnt, the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Kadri Traffic police have registered a case.
