Mangaluru, April 11, 2025: Ongoing repairs on the old Netravati Bridge at Jeppinamogaru, along National Highway 66, are causing daily traffic disruptions. With two-way traffic temporarily diverted to the new bridge, vehicle congestion has become a regular issue.
During peak hours, traffic jams stretch from Pumpwell and Kallapu to the Thokkottu flyover, leading to significant delays. Even emergency vehicles are struggling to pass through the traffic.
As a temporary solution, light vehicles traveling to and from areas like Deralakatte and Konaje are being rerouted via the Harekala-Pavoor bridge. However, this alternative is also experiencing heavy traffic during rush hours.
Commuters from Thokkottu, Talapady, and Kerala heading toward Mangaluru are now starting their journeys at least an hour early. Frustrated by the delays, the public is urging authorities to speed up the repair work and restore smoother traffic flow.
