Initially, Geetha had filed a complaint with the police, asserting that Hanumanthappa died due to excessive drinking or some underlying illness. In her statement, she claimed, "Hanumanthappa, who was extremely drunk, was not around when I checked at 2 am. Upon looking outside, I found him vomiting near the gate and unable to speak. I called my brother and informed him. When he arrived, we rushed him to the hospital. However, the doctor pronounced that my husband had died immediately, possibly due to excessive alcohol consumption or some other ailment."
