Mangaluru: Yellow alert declared in DK and Udupi until Jun 18

Mangaluru, June 15, 2024: The monsoon has shown a weakening trend in coastal districts over the last two days. Mangaluru experienced intermittent clouds and sunshine. The IMD has issued a yellow alert from June 15 to 18, indicating a likelihood of significant rainfall during this period.

In Udupi district, certain areas received moderate rainfall. Byndoor and Kaup encountered substantial showers late Thursday night and early Friday morning. Udupi, Manipal, Malpe, and nearby regions saw heavy downpours briefly on Friday morning, followed by a mix of sunshine and cloudy conditions for the rest of the day. Recorded rainfall figures for Friday were as follows: Karkala 7.5 mm, Kundapur 2.6 mm, Udupi 4.8 mm, Byndoor 12.6 mm, Brahmavar 2.4 mm, Kaup 9.7 mm, and Hebri 2.7 mm.

In Dakshina Kannada district, Ullal received the highest rainfall on Friday, recording 55.4 mm. The district averaged 37.9 mm of rainfall. Rainfall in various taluks was noted as follows: Beltangady 37.9 mm, Bantwal 43 mm, Puttur 33 mm, Sullia 32.1 mm, Moodbidri 41.4 mm, Kadaba 36.2 mm, and Mulky 44.9 mm.
