Manipal Institute of Technology to host prestigious XXI CISCON Conference

Manipal, July 31, 2024: The Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering at Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, is set to host the prestigious XXI CISCON - Control Instrumentation Systems Conference from August 1-3, 2024. Supported by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Government of India, and ARK Infosystems Chennai, this year’s conference marks a significant milestone with its first-time collaboration with the IEEE Bengaluru chapter. The proceedings of the conference will be published on IEEE Xplore, adding to the event’s prestige and reach.

The conference received an overwhelming response this year, with over 800 manuscript submissions from around the world. After a rigorous selection process, approximately 150 papers were shortlisted, and around 90 authors have registered to present their research findings. This impressive turnout highlights the conference’s growing influence and reputation within the academic and professional communities.

A key highlight of the conference is the pre-conference tutorial scheduled for August 1, 2024. This tutorial will focus on "Machine Learning-Based Data-Driven Identification and Control Design Using DC Motors" and will be conducted by Dr. P. S. V. Nataraj, a retired professor from IIT Bombay, alongside his technical support staff. This session promises to provide valuable insights into the integration of machine learning techniques with control systems, a topic of great interest and relevance in today’s technological landscape.

The conference will feature an esteemed lineup of speakers, including Dr. Shashikant Sadistap, Chief Scientist at CSIR NEERI, Nagpur, who will deliver the keynote address. Other notable speakers include Dr. Ravindra D. Gudi, Dean of Alumni and Internationalisation at IIT Bombay, who will give an invited talk, as well as Dr. Sourav Kanti Aditya from NITK and Dr. Vishal Sharma from INTEL Bengaluru.

The inauguration ceremony of the conference is set to take place on August 2, 2024, at the Sir M V Seminar Hall, MIT Manipal. The ceremony will be graced by the presence of the honorable Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh, VSM (Retd), alongside distinguished guests including Dr. Shashikant Sadistap, Commander (Dr.) Anil Rana, Director of MIT Manipal, and Dr. Shreesha C., Head of the Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
