Manoj Kumar Kodikal is new Mayor; Bhanumathi is Deputy Mayor

Mangaluru, September 19, 2024: Manoj Kumar Kodikal who represents Ward No. 17 Derebail North has been elected as the new Mayor of Mangaluru City Corporation on September 19, Thursday. Bhanumathi PS who represents ward No. 58 Bolar was elected the Deputy Mayor in the election held at the MCC’s Mangala Auditorium today.

The Mayoral post was reserved for an SC candidate. As the Congress did not have any candidate from this category, Manoj was elected unopposed.

As the present BJP rule in the MCC is only upto February 27, the new Mayor and Deputy Mayor will only have a tenure of five and a half months instead of the usual one year.
