Massive protest for ‘Justice to Sowjanya’ in Mangalore on Nov 9 : Timarody

Belthangady, Nov 5, 2013  :   A huge protest would be held at Nehru Maidan in Mangalore on November 9 demanding a CBI investigation under Supreme Court surveillance, into   the Sowjanya rape and murder case, informed  Mahesh Shetty Timarody, President of the Prajaprabhutva Vedike.

Speaking to reporters during  his visit to the residence of Sowjanya at Pangala on November 5, Tuesday along with Sri Esha Vittaldasa Swamiji of Kemar Sandeepani Ashram, Timarody said                             a huge vehicle  jatha too would be taken out as part of the protest. An estimated two lakh people are likely to converge and pledge their support for the cause, he said adding there  is also a plan of collecting  at least one lakh signatures  in order to appeal to the Supreme Court for a CBI probe.

“The CBI should probe all the 452 cases of unnatural deaths in Dharmasthala in the past ten years including the Padmalatha,  Vedavalli and Sowjanya cases. There should be in-depth probe into the suspected suicide of Ravi Poojari, a witness in Sowjanya case and also the unnatural death of Varija Acharthi, a  domestic help in the residence of one of the accused in the case,” Timarody said and warned  of bloodshed if  the government fails  to  heed to the demand.

Sri Esha Vittaldasa Swamiji of Kemar who also spoke said he   has visited the Sowjanya residence  once again by taking up the challenged posed to him by some forces which had offended him while he had visited Sowjanya’s residence on November 5 last year. He made it clear that he has not spoken against any religious institution or individual and pointed out that he has also been active in agitations   against various projects which are detrimental to public interests.

Sri Rama Sene leader Prasad Attavar, social activist Vishnumurthi Bhat, advocate Bhasker Holla, Sowjanya’s parents Chandappa Gowda, Kusumavathi, grandfather Babu Gowda and others were present.
