Mobile Phone Explosion Sparks Fire, Engulfs House in Karkala

Karkala, Feb 16, 2025: A mobile phone left charging at home exploded, engulfing the entire house in flames in Marathappa Shetty Colony in Tellaru Road on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at the residence of Kishore Kumar Shetty in Marathappa Shetty Colony.

The explosion happened around 4 AM, when the charging mobile phone burst, triggering a fire that spread through the two-story house. Firefighters arrived promptly and brought the blaze under control after a two-and-a-half-hour operation.

However, by the time the fire was extinguished, various household items, including a TV, windows, fans, mobile phones, interior furnishings and a sofa, were destroyed. The estimated loss is said to be around ₹7 lakh.
