Municipal worker abused, assaulted by scrap shop owner at Bikarnakatte

Mangaluru, February 27, 2025: A municipal worker attached to the Mangaluru City Corporation was abused and assaulted by a scrap shop owner at Bikarnakatte on Wednesday.

It is learnt the scrap shop owner tried to dump a gunny bag full of waste into the garbage vehicle when it reached a place near the Bikarnakatte petrol bunk on Wednesday morning. As there is a strict rule relating to disposal of dry and wet waste, the municipal worker Shivappa objected following which the scrap shop owner reportedly attacked the worker, abused his caste and even tore off his clothes and threatened his life.

Following a complaint lodged by the victim, the Kadri East Police have registered a case.
