Namma Kudla’s 14th annual Goodu Deepa competition to be held on Nov 1

Mangalore, Oct 30, 2013: Namma Kudla’s 14th annual Goodu Deepa competition will be held at Kudroli Shri Gokarnanatheshwara Temple on Nov 1, Friday at 5 pm.


Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club held on Oct 30, Wednesday, coordinator of the program Kadri Navneeth Shetty said that Goodu Deepa competition will have 3 categories—traditional, modern, and unique.

MCC Commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde will inaugurate the event at Santhoshi Kala Mantap, while Former state minister Krishna J Palemar will preside over the event.


The participants are required to register on the same day and bring either their prepared goodu deepa or material to prepare one at 4:00 p.m.


Prizes will be given away at the valedictory ceremony, which will be held on the same day at 7:00 p.m and Former Union Minister B Janardhana Poojary will preseide over the event.


On the same occasion, the ‘Namma Tuluver Award 2013’ will be conferred on M Sadananda Shetty, chairman of Shridevi Educational Institution, the ‘Namma Kudla Award 2013’ will be conferred on Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alvas Educational Institution; and ‘Multifaceted Talent Award’ will be conferred on Shreyank S Kotian, student of St Aloysius College.


Minister for fisheries, youth welfare and sports K Abhayachandra Jain, MLA J R Lobo, SCDCC Bank chairman M. N. Rajendra Kumar, Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, Chief Co-ordinator of Shasthavu Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Temple, Bharat Co-Operative Bank, Udupi zonal officer Balakrishna Karkera, Dakshina Kannada co-operative milk producers union  director Dr Satyanaraya Rao wll be the chief guest.


Besides, the partcipation prize and sweets,  many special prizes will be awarded by 12 big sponsors, he said.


Cultural events will also be held. The entire event will be broadcast live on V4 Channel.


Co- ordinator Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli, Prof M S Kotian, Harish B Karkera and Leelaksha B Karkera were present at the press meet.
