Newborn’s body found inside mosque premises in Malpe; police launch investigation

Udupi, April 15, 2025: A shocking incident has surfaced near Malpe Junction, where the body of a newborn baby was discovered within the premises of a mosque.

Suhail (27), the manager of Jamia Mosque in the area, reported the matter to the authorities after making the discovery. According to his complaint, a two-storey building affiliated with the mosque is located nearby, and a toilet had recently been constructed beside it for use by construction workers.

On April 14, around 1:10 PM, Suhail entered the toilet and was shocked to find the body of a newborn inside. Bloodstains were reportedly visible on the wall. Preliminary observations suggest the infant may have died before, during, or shortly after birth.

Authorities suspect that an unidentified individual may have abandoned the baby’s body there in an attempt to conceal the birth.

A case has been registered at the Malpe police station, and an investigation is underway to identify those responsible and determine the events leading up to the incident.
