Nitte University to launch climate action program on Jan 19

Mangaluru, Jan 18, 2024: Nitte Deemed to be University is gearing up to empower the children in addressing climate change with the launch of the Nitte Climate Action Program (NCAP) on January 19th, 2024.

This outreach program, in collaboration with Dr. Mundkur Ramanna Shetty Memorial English Medium School, Sustainable Development Goals Cell (SDG) and the Institution Innovation Council (IIC), aims to inspire action, drive positive behavioral changes, and foster innovation for a sustainable future.

The inaugural ceremony at the University Auditorium, Paneer Campus, at 11 AM, will be graced by Mr. Dayananda Ramchandra Nayak, Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI), Dakshina Kannada, and presided over by Prof. Dr. M.S. Moodithaya, Vice-Chancellor of Nitte University. Other dignitaries like Prof. Dr. G. Srinikethan (President, IIC), Prof. Dr. Smitha Hegde (Chief Officer, SDG Cell), Mrs. Shreelatha Rao (Principal, Dr. Mundkur Ramanna Shetty Memorial English Medium School), and Mr. Shashi Kumar Shetty (Coordinator, NSS Unit) will also be present.

NCAP will initially focus on school students from the coastal region of Karnataka, raising awareness about climate change preparedness and its impact on their communities. The program delves into crucial areas like climate change, water management, soil conservation, green practices, public health, and smart city development. Students will actively engage through competitions related to these areas, including poster presentations, solidifying their understanding and encouraging creative solutions.

Valedictory:

The program will conclude with a valedictory ceremony at 3:30 PM on the same day, with Prof. Dr. Harsha Halahalli, Registrar, Nitte University, as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Vishal Hegde, Trustee, Nitte Education Trust, Pro-Chancellor (Administration), Nitte University, as the President. Winners of the competitions will be recognized and awarded prizes for their efforts and contributions.
