Mangalore, Feb 14: The Konkan railway authorities say that the introduction of a new Mangalore to Karwar train is impossible because of “terminal problems.”
Explaining their excuse further, the authorities say that the Karwar Railway Station lacks a terminal or any other related facilities, a fact that has been brought to the notice of the transport manager of the Konkan Railway Corporation, following an appeal submitted by the Puttur-based Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
A Yatri Sangh official has revealed to reporters that there is a lack of common political will or consensus among elected representatives of Mangalore and Karwar and that the MPs of the area have not written any letter demanding a train to Karwar. Stating that he was aware of the inconvenience caused to hundreds of commuters, he said that an appeal for help and support has been made to three major political parties, who have assured of their help.
He also said that MLA Raghupati Bhat and Shri Pejawar Swamiji will also participate in the rail roko, which will be held to intensify the protests.
