Officials raid illegal sand mining site in Mangaluru, seize boats and equipment

Mangaluru, November 17, 2024: Officials from the Mines Department conducted a raid on Saturday at a site where illegal sand mining was taking place and seized several boats.

In a joint operation by the Mines and Revenue Departments, the raid was carried out at a location on the Gurupura Phalguni River where illegal sand mining activities were identified.

During the operation, five boats, a motor and a gas cylinder were seized. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Mangaluru Sub-Divisional Officer Harshavardhan, with the participation of Tahsildar Prashanth Patil, Mines Department Geologist Girish Mohan, and others.
