Over 30,000 students to write CET in DK, Udupi

Mangaluru/ Udupi, April 8, 2025: In all, 30,614 students from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have applied to write Common Entrance Test (CET) at 66 examination centres in Dakhina Kannada and Udupi districts on April 16 and 17.

As many as 22,525 students will write CET in 43 centres of four taluks in Dakshina Kannada. In terms of number of students who will appear for the test, Dakshina Kannada district stands second with Bengaluru Urban district topping the list.

Dakshina Kannada Additional Deputy Commissioner G. Santosh Kumar said as many 555 students will write Kannada examination to qualify for the ‘Gadinadu Kannadiga’ reservation in seats for professional courses.  

Mr. Kumar said orders prohibiting movement of people in groups in 200 meters radius around the centres will be issued soon. CCTV cameras will be installed in all examination centres and proceedings of all centres will be webcast. The gram panchayats and urban local bodies have been told to provide drinking water and other basic amenities for all the centres, in coordination with officials from pre-university department and college principals.  

The official said Mescom has been told not to do load shedding during the examination days. The RTO and KSRTC have been told to ensure students reach without any problem to the centres in private and government buses.  

In Udupi

A total of 8,089 students will write the CET in 23 centres of Udupi district. While 12 centres are in Udupi, five centres are in Karkala, and six in Kundapura taluks.

In the meeting to review the preparations, Udupi Deputy Commissioner K. Vidyakumari on Monday directed officials to keep CET question papers in District treasury with adequate police security. CCTVs should be installed at the place where the question papers are kept. Arrangements should be made to send question papers on time to the centres.

Asking the students to come to the centres an hour before commencement of the examination, the official said students will not be allowed to carry electronic gadgets, including smart watches and mobile phones, into the centre. With the hall ticket, students should carry an identity card, including the Aadhar Card or Driving Licence, bus pass, passport, pan card or college ID with them, the Udupi DC said.
