POCSO case: 24 year old man gets 1 year jail

Mangaluru, February 12, 2025: The POCSO Court has sentenced a man from Sajipanadu to one year imprisonment and has slapped a penalty of Rs 10,000 on him in a case of sexually harassing a minor college girl.

The convict is Jamal (24) who worked as a mechanic in Belthangady; The incident took place on October 5, 2024 when the girl was walking in an isolated area along with a relative. The accused who waylaid the girl had tried to harass her. A complaint was lodged in Venoor police station.

The court in its judgement has said the convict will have to undergo an additional two months imprisonment if he fails to pay the penalty.
