Mangalore, November 27: The joys of launching the Mangalore – Lakshadweep luxury liner appear to be short lived since customers have lodged a complaint against Rasheed Bolar for alleged failure to reserve seats even after collecting money for the same. Allegedly, Rasheed was not authorized to collect money for seat reservation and was cheating people by pretended to be an agent. Based on these complaints Sub Inspector of Pandeshwar Police Station Ramkrishna has arrested Rasheed Bolar.
K. Pradeep of Davanagere, one of the victims, said at the port that Rasheed had collected a sum of Rs. 7000 for each ticket, which included food. But, when they reached the port to board the vessel, they realized that their tickets had not been booked. The victims immediately took the matter to the police station. The other people duped by Rasheed are Ajanth, Shrinivas Moorthy, Nagraj, and Shridhar. Currently, those who are supposed to sail to Lakshadweep are staying at Hotel Nalapad Residency.
Modern Transport Services Proprietor P. Asif Azad rushed to the spot as soon he came to know of the matter. He clarified that he is the only authorized agent for the Lakshadweep – Mangalore tour and that Rasheed is a cheat. He also informed that the weekend package to Lakshadweep, which includes food and accommodation, costs only Rs. 5,200. The people who paid Rasheed to book seats for them will not get seats because Rasheed is not authorized to reserve seats, he said, adding that even the receipts given by Rasheed are fake and are not connected to the tour in any way.
