Parashurama theme park row: HC refuses to revoke case against sculptor

Karkala, October 22, 2024: The State High Court has refused to revoke the criminal case filed against sculptor Krishna Nayak who had sculpted the controversial Parashurama statue that was installed in the Parashurama theme park in Ummikal Hills of Bailoor in Karkala.

The case was filed against Krishna Nayak of Krish Art World following a complaint lodged by Krishna Shetty. However, Nayak had moved the State High Court seeking cancellation of the case against him. However, the High Court has rejected his appeal.

It may be recalled here that a controversy had sparked up following allegations that the statue of Parashurama was not that of bronze as claimed by the erstwhile BJP. The statue was eventually dismantled after a probe was launched.
