Patient dies, 3 injured as ambulance overturns near Padil

Mangaluru, September 26, 2024: A patient died while three of his family members sustained injuries after the ambulance in which they were travelling to a hospital in Mangaluru from Puttur, overturned near Padil on Wednesday.

The deceased is Dasappa Rai (73) from Kadaba Haleneranki. Dasappa’s wife Nalini Rai (54), son Harshith (33) and a relative Manish (24) sustained injuries.

Dasappa  Rai had suffered a stroke on the night of September 24 following which he was shifted to a hospital in Puttur by a neighbour in his car. Later he was being taken to a hospital in Mangaluru when the ambulance went out of control of the driver near the First Neuro Hospital at around 4 am. The ambulance was badly mangled in the mishap. Even an electric pole was damaged.

The injured are recovering in the hospital.
