Mangalore, Nov 10: The Pingara Rajyotsava Award 2009 was conferred on Rajendra Kumar Heggade on behalf of his brother Dr. D Veerendra Heggade at a felicitation programme organized by Pingara at Town Hall, Mangalore, on Nov 10, Tuesday.
Mr. Heggade was honored with a shawl, a Mysore Peta, a citation, a memento, along with the prestigious Pingara Award. The trustees of Dharsmasthala Rural Development were also felicitated on this occasion.
Fr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, spoke on the occasion and said that this award is just another feather in the cap of Dr. Heggade because he has already been honored several times and has received several awards. The bishop also said that Dr. Heggade believes that the service of the common citizen is equal to the service of God. He mentioned that Dr. Heggade has always worked for the development of the poor.
Rohini of Information Department, Michael Fernandes, B A Moideen Bawa, MLA Abhayachandran Jain, and Raymond D’Cunha, the editor of Pingara weekly were present at the felicitation programme.
