Police Commissioner asks public to prioritize installing CCTV cameras

Mangaluru, July 10, 2024: City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal has requested public to give priority to installing CCTV cameras around their houses. He said CCTV camera footage played a vital role in tracing the accused in the Kotekani robbery case.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the Commissioner gave details regarding the incident wherein the arrested accused tried to attack the cops during spot mahajar on Wednesday and had to be shot at in the leg.

He said the beat system has been intensified and those staying alone or are going outstation should inform the local police station as it would help cops keep an eye on such places and to provide patrolling facility.

On the robbery in Victor Mendonca house, the Commissioner said the thieves had barged in by breaking the window grills and had taken the iron rod found outside the house to attack the couple in the house. The rod was found abandoned in a bushy area near the highway at Mulki, he said.

The Commissioner also informed that the police team led by SI Bharathi which was successful in cracking the Ulaibettu dacoity case will be given a cash reward of Rs 50,000.
