Pravasi Sangam to organize protest fast against AI

Mangalore, Feb 12, 2012: The members of the Pravasi Sangam, a Kerala-based organization of foreign-returned Indians focusing on overseas affairs, have announced a protest fast against discrepancies in disbursing compensation to the kin of the victims of the Mangalore plane crash of 2010 on Feb 15 Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in front Air India’s office in Mangalore. 


Addressing reporters at a press conference held on Feb 11 Saturday, P. K. Abdulla, the central vice president of the Pravasi Sangam, said that AI has not assessed compensation amount in a correct manner, owing to which the agitation is required.

Stating that their protest of March had little effect, he said that AI is still biased in disbursing compensation amount. 


MLA E. P. Jayarajan will inaugurate the fast, he said. MLA K. V. Abdul Khader, the general secretary of the Kerala Pravasi Sangam Central Committee; K. Kunhiraman, and many other prominent people along with 200 volunteers will participate in the protest fast, he added.
