Udupi, July 15, 2013 : A pre-Paryaya ritual Kattige Muhurtha was performed at Kaniyoor Mutt on July 14, Sunday. As part of the tradition, bundles of Kattige or firewood were taken out in a procession from Kaniyoor Mutt to Sri Krishna Mutt.
The colour procession featuring chende and musical bands was participated by hundreds of people. Later, Sri Vidyavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Kaniyoor Mutt, the next Paryaya seer who will be ascending the peetha on January 18 next year, performed other rituals like Akki Muhurtha and also planted banana plants.
The fire wood will be stored at the Krishna Mutt and will be used to make prasadam and for preparing lunch to devotees who visit the Mutt during the Paryaya. The firewood was stocked in a shape that resembled the chariot.
Raghupathi, Diwan of Kaniyoor Mutt, Nagaraj Bhat, Manager and others were present.
