Prisoner escapes from Corona observation ward at Kannur Central jail

Kasargod, April 03, 2020:  A prisoner  kept under observation in the Corona ward of the Kannur Central Jail has escaped on April 3, Friday.

 

The  prisoner who escaped is Ajay Babu of Uttar Pradesh origin. He was undergoing  imprisonment in the case of theft in Canara Bank’s branch in Kasargod. He was shifted from the Kasargod prison to Kannur Central Jail on March 25. He was subsequently kept at the Corona observation ward   at Kannur prison  as he was brought from Kasargod where a number of Coronavirus positive cases have been reported.

It is learnt, he escaped by breaking the ventilator of the ward. Investigations are in progress.
