Progressive people’s silence helps communal outfits grow – Ravivarma Kumar

Udupi, August 13, 2012 : Senior advocate Ravivarma Kumar, who is also the former president of the Karnataka Backward Classes Commission, said on August 12, Sunday that the silence of progressive people has led to the rise of communal outfits in Mangalore.

He made the above observation at the inaugural ceremony of the Forum of Inter-faith Relationship (Jati Mukta Sambandha Vedike) in Mangalore. The newly formed forum also held a state-level convention on this occasion.

He further said that reactionary groups and mutts take advantage of the silence of progressive people, adding that these groups will become less prominent and inactive if progressive people raised their voice in protest against them. He voiced his opinion that the silence of progressive people will only encourage communal forces to flourish.

The objective of the forum is to promote inter-religious and inter-caste marriages and friendly relationship among various communities.
