Muneer Katipalla, Convenor of the Toll Gate Action Committee, Purushotham Chitrapura, President of the Suratkal Block Congress Committee and other speakers highlighted the various problems faced by the public due to the improper maintenance of the highway. Despite heavy traffic, the highway has not been asphalted in a scientific way since the past six years and only potholes were filled for namesake after every monsoon, they said. They also highlighted how several accidents on the NH have claimed many lives and alleged that the highway was not being maintained properly.

They also warned that protests will be held until the problem is solved.
