Puttur : Governor inaugurates centenary celebrations of Vivekananda College

Puttur, Jan 8, 2015 : Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala  has  said that   inclusion of  Indian cultural aspects in education is welcome as it can pass on to the next generation the rich heritage of the land.

Speaking after inaugurating the centenary celebrations of Vivekananda Degree and PU College on January 7, Wednesday, he also pointed out that some critics are of the view that inclusion of Indian culture in education was  considered as saffronisation. But the work will be carried ahead, he reiterated.

 

 

 

 

He also  was appreciative of the services of Vivekananda institutions in the field of education and  said the students   from this institution have spread its fame far and wide.

A special postal envelope brought out to commemorate the centenary celebrations of the college was released by  Chief Postmaster General of Karnataka zone M S Ramanujan. The college souvenir ‘Suvarna Viveke’ was released by Nalin Kumar Kateel, Dakshina Kannada MP.

Shakuntala Shetty, Puttur MLA,Urimajalu Rama Bhat, former MLA and Founder Convenor of Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha,  Jeevandas, Principal of Vivekananda PU College and several others were present.
