Mangaluru, October 31, 2023: Dr. Prashanth Shetty, Shashikiran Shetty, Dinesh Amin Mattu, Leelavathi Baipadithaya, Charmadi Hasanabba from Dakshina Kannada district and Argodu Mohandas Shenoy and Haji Abdulla Parkala from Udupi district were among the 68 eminent personalities who have been chosen for the Rajyotsava Awards this year in recognition of their outstanding contribution to their respective fields. Muslim Educational Institutions Federation (MEIF) and Maruti Janaseva Sangha from Dakshina Kannada district among the 10 organisations that are chosen for the award.

The award, considered to be the second highest civilian award given by the state government annually, will be conferred on the occasion of 68th Karnataka Rajyotsava, the state’s formation day on November 1.
In addition to 68 Rajyotsava awards, it was decided to give away 10 awards to organisations, on the occasion of ’Karnataka Sambhrama’ celebration marking the golden jubilee of renaming of Mysuru state as Karnataka, Minister for Kannada and Culture Shivaraj Tangadagi said, announcing the winners of the award on Tuesday.
Noting that every district has been given representation while selecting the awardees, he said, "the awardees include 13 women, 54 men and one transgeneder. Also two centenarians are part of the list." The awardees will get Rs 5 lakh cash and a 25-gram gold medal.
From the fields of science and technology, ISRO Chief S. Somanathan Shreedhar Panikar and Prof. Gopalan Jagadeesh and from the field of law, V. Gopalagowda of Chikkaballapura has been chosen for the award.
In the medical field, accolades have been presented to Dr. C. Ramachandra of Bangalore and Dr. Prashant Shetty from Mangalore. In the fields of Yakshagana Aragodu Mohanadasa Shenai, K. Leelavathi Baipadittaya, Keshappa Shilkyatar, and Dalavayi Siddappa have been chosen.
In the education sector, Ramappa from Raichur, K. Chandra Shekhar from Kolar and K.T. Chandu from Mandya. From the sports field, Kolar’s K. Divya T.S., Bangalore’s Aditi Ashok, and Dharwad’s Ashok Gadigepape have received awards.
Eight individuals chosen from the literature field are C. Naganna from Chamarajanagar, Subbu Holer from Hassan, Sathish Kulakarni from Haveri, Parappa Gurupadappa Siddhapura from Vijayapura, Dr. K. Sharifa and Lakshmipathi from Kolar and Dr. K. Sharifa from Bangalore.
