Ramdev announces nationwide agitation against black money from June 1

Mangalore, April 16: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev said that he would launch a nationwide agitation from June 1 to demand the withdrawal of higher denominations of currency notes as they are used for circulation of black money.

Every politician must voluntarily declare his or her assets and governments should judiciously use the country’s wealth rather than borrowing money from other countries, he said at a yoga camp conducted at Nehru Maidan, Mangalore on Saturday, April 16.


Baba Ramdev said he would launch the agitation through his Bharath Swabhiman Movement at a national-level.


He said with the objective to make India a corruption-free country a ’yoga yatra’ from Madhya Pradesh had been launched, which has covered the distance of one lakh kilometres so far.

 

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, who has launched his campaign against corruption, was harsh on Karnataka politicians. "I know that corruption is rampant in the state. Corruption cannot be defended based on any political ideology. All parties and politicians are corrupt, he said

 

Various dignitaries including Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, DC Subodh Yadav and others participated in the Yoga Camp held at Nehru Maidan from 4:30 a.m. today


Baba Ramdev, who is famous for his Yoga camps and his anti-corruption campaign, arrived in Mangalore yesterday. Ajith Kumar Rai Maladi, the organizer of the free Yoga camp, and many other followers of Baba Ramdev, recieved him in the airport.

The Pathanjali Yoga Society and the Bharath Swabhiman Trust (SK) had jointly organized a welcome rally from Pumpwell Circle to Maladi, where Baba Ramdev will stay as long as he is in Mangalore. Baba Ramdev also received a poornakumbha welcome at Maladi.

Baba Ramdev later told journalists that India was suffering intensely because of the dishonest and corrupt activities of politicians in power. He said that he will continue with his anti-corruption campaign although he is least interested in active politics. Stating that his clean image and large following has already made a number of politicians uncomfortable, Baba Ramdev said that only the Jan Lokpal Bill can control corrupt politicians by bringing their corrupt deeds into the open. However, the bill will not punish these politicians, he said and pointed that the need of the hour is to punish all corrupt politicians severely.

Unfurling the coconut flower, he wished everybody a happy Ugadi.

Speaking about Yoga, he said that it is not related to any religion, but is a collection of physical exercises to keep the practitioner fit and healthy. He said that relieving the mind of stress and excessive thoughts is essential to attain peace. He advised the gathering to be motivated and inspired, be holistic, and eat healthy in order to be fit and creative. 

Speaking of the sacredness of the human body, he said that it is representative of the universe and that everybody requires vision, wisdom, and hard work. Stating that the modern world is full of stress, he said that hard work and the self-discipline and self-confidence that can be obtained through Yoga is essential to help people get along in life. He concluding by advising his listeners to work hard, develop the habit of prayer, and keep themselves and others happy with their deeds.
