Red alert on Karnataka coast: IMD

Mangaluru, June 21, 2024: Starting today and for the next five days, winds with speeds of 35 to 45 km/h are expected along the Karnataka coast, making the sea rough during this period. The weather department has issued a warning advising fishermen in the three coastal districts of the state not to venture into the sea.

Additionally, from June 22 to June 24, there is a forecast of moderate to heavy rainfall, ranging from 64.5 mm to 204.4 mm, with some areas potentially receiving more than 204.4 mm. A red alert has been declared for the state’s coastal regions based on this weather forecast.

Furthermore, the weather department has indicated that from the night of June 20 to June 21, between 11:30 PM, sea waves with heights ranging from 2.0 meters to 2.7 meters are likely to hit the coast from Mulki to Mangalore in Dakshina Kannada district, from Byndoor to Kaup in Udupi district, and from Bhatkal to Majali in Uttara Kannada district.
