Mangalore, Apr 15, 2012: Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the Ullal Central Committee office on April 14 Saturday, Zameer Pasha, the chief secretary of the Minorities Welfare Department, said that the state has earmarked Rs. 406 crore for minority welfare and an extra Rs. 96 crore under the scholarship scheme. He urged minorities to use all the facilities made available for them, adding that it is the duty of social organizations to ensure that all these benefits reach those who deserve them.
The chief guest of the inauguration ceremony was MLA U. T. Khader. Haji Mohammed Masood, the former president of the Karnataka Minorities Commission, was also present.
Farooq U. H. delivered the welcome address; Mustafa Manchil, the joint secretary, proposed the vote of thanks; and K. M. K. Manjanady was the MC of the event.
