Mangalore, Jan 25, 2013: Sahasra Kumbhabhisheka will be performed at the Sri Venkatramana Temple at Carstreet here from February 1 to 3 in connection with the first anniversary of the Punah Pratishta Mahotsava of the temple which was held consequent upon its renovation last year. The Sahasra Kumbhabhisheka rituals will be held in the presence and with the blessings of Sri Sudhindra Theertha Swamiji and Sri Samyamindra Theertha Swamiji, the Senior and Junior pontiffs respectively of the Sri Kashi Mutt Samsthan.
Various programmes will be held at the shrine beginning from January 30, in connection with the Kumbhabhisheka. There will be Prayaschitta Havana, Adya Gana Yaga, Ugrana Muhurtha, Maha Pooja, Gurubhikshe, Go Pooja, Brahmana Suvasini Aradhane and other rituals on January 30. Various rituals will be held the subsequent days.
On February 3 Sahasra Kumbhabhisheka ritual will begin at the hands of the senior pontiff of Kashi Mutt at 9.30 am followed by Pradhana Kalashabhisheka at 12 noon. There will be a public function at 7 pm on February 3 in the presence of both the seers, at the majestic platform erected in front of the temple.
As part of cultural programmes, there will be a devotional music concert ‘Triveni Sangam’ by renowned singers Pandit Upendra Bhat, Puttur Narasimha Nayak and Shanker Shanbagh, on February 1. On February 2 there will be a devotional music programme by famed singer Anuradha Podwal.
Sri Samyamindra Theertha Swamiji, the junior seer of Kashi Mutt, who will be arriving at Venkatramana Temple from his Kaup camp on January 30, will be accorded a grand reception and will be brought to the temple in a palanquin procession from near Swadeshi Stores. The seer will be camping in the temple till February 5.
