Sara Abubakker to receive prestigious BMTC Nrupatunga Award

Bangalore, Nov 4, 2012: The prestigious BMTC Nrupatunga Award for this year will be conferred on renowned novelist Sara Abubakker as per the decision of the panel of judges, which met on the evening of Nov 2, Friday.

This award is instituted by the Kannada Sahitya Parishad and sponsored by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC).

The panel comprised Pundalika Halambi, president of the KSP, Dr. Sa Shi Marulaiah, Dr. Marulasiddappa, Moodnakodu Chinnaswamy, Dr. Vijayamma, and Va Cha Channe Gowda.

The award comprises Rs. 5 lakhs and will be conferred on Ms. Abubakker at an award ceremony, which will be held in Bangalore in December.

The BMTC has deposited a sum of Rs. 1.5 crore in the account of Kannada Sahitya Parishad and the interest accrued on it is given away to the award winner.

The previous winners of this award are Prof. D. Javare Gowda, Devanuru Mahadeva, Patil Puttappa, and Dr. M. M. Kalburgi.
