Scooter rider killed in collision with Jeep near Tokkottu overbridge

Ullal, Dec 15, 2024: A scooter rider lost his life in a tragic accident caused by a speeding jeep late Saturday night on the service road of the highway near Netaji Hospital, close to Tokkottu Overbridge.

The deceased has been identified as Arun Poojari (43), a resident of Eliyar Padu Sampige Dadi in Ullal taluk. Arun, who worked as a waiter at the Wine & Dine Bar and Restaurant in Kapikad, was returning home on his Activa scooter after finishing work when a speeding Gypsy jeep collided head-on with his vehicle.

Arun sustained severe injuries and succumbed to them on the way to the hospital. The Mangaluru South Traffic Police have taken the jeep driver into custody and conducted a medical examination. A case has been registered in connection with the incident.

Arun is survived by his parents, wife and two sons. Reports indicate that both his parents are bedridden due to illness and were under his care.

Hemavathi, a housekeeping staff member at Wine & Dine, was also riding with Arun at the time of the accident. She sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to the hospital.
