Series of accidents on NH 75 near Gundya disrupts highway traffic

Uppinangady, June 30, 2024: A series of accidents involving an Eicher truck and Karnataka State Transport Corporation’s Airavat and Rajahamsa buses occurred near Gundya in Shiradi village on National Highway 75 on the evening of June 29th, resulting in minor injuries to the bus driver.

The incident occurred when an Eicher truck transporting parcels from Mangalore to Bangalore attempted to overtake the Airavat bus traveling from Kundapura to Bangalore, colliding with the Rajahamsa bus coming from Bangalore to Mangalore, causing it to fall into a ditch. During this time, a head-on collision also occurred between the Rajahamsa bus and the Airavat bus.

Kiran Mesta, the driver of the Airavat bus, sustained injuries in the accident. The incident led to a traffic jam at the location for some time. Nellyadi outpost police visited the scene and made proper arrangements to manage the traffic.
