Sr. Wilberta BS delivers Christmas message Mangalore, December 23: Delivering her traditional Christmas Eve message to the sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany on Thursday, Sr. Wilberta BS, the superior general of Bethany Congregation, urged the sisters to be messengers of peace, hope, joy, and justice. She added that the sisters have to be the voice of the voiceless, uphold truth and justice, live in truth and harmony although we have religious and linguistic differences, and be instruments peace and joy.

Dec 23, which is the death anniversary of Raymond F. C. Mascarenhas, the founder of the Bethany Congregation and the Bethany Education Society, is a special day for the Bethany sisters.

Fr. Raymond F. C. Mascarenhas worked hard for women’s empowerment, his goal being to provide education for the less privileged people, especially girls. He, therefore, started schools, health care centres, and social service centres in rural areas to uphold the dignity of the poor. His mission has now spread all over the world.

His house, popularly known as the Founder’s Cottage, is located beside the Bethany Mother House Bendoor, and has been converted into a museum displaying his personal items such as pictures, vestments, books, documents, and so on.

Sr. M. Lillis BS, Sr. M. Assumpta BS, Sr. M. Canisia, and Sr. M. Rose Celine were also present at the event.
